Ben's Tubes...
Remember how like 4 months ago I posted that Ben would get tubes in his ears? Well, it ended up being a much harder decision than I thought it would be! We kept getting different answers on whether we should or not from different doctors. I did NOT want to send him in for an unnecessary surgery but he was also showing signs of hearing loss due to fluid build up in his ears. The main reason it was such a questions is because he really hasn't had that many ear infections. He's had a few but the main concern was the fluid build up causing hearing loss. Anyway, long story short, I changed my mind 500 times and FINALLY after noticing enough reasons why gave in and scheduled the surgery.
We went in to the hospital at 6:45 this morning and waited around until finally at 10:45 (after Ben's patience was definitely wearing thin!) they called him back for the surgery. It only took a few minutes and I was able to go see him right when he woke up. He cried for a good little while while the anesthesia wore off and then after that was gone he just kept moaning "oooooowwww" I felt bad for the poor little guy! Thanks to my awesome sister for take Zack ALL day we were able to both go home and go straight to bed for naps (remind me never to plan something so emotional in the first trimester of pregnancy again, I felt like I'd just run a marathon by the time we got home!) After his nap he was GREAT and his normal happy self! I could already tell today that his hearing has improved from the surgery. He was much more sensitive to noises and it was so cute because he spent the ENTIRE day singing and talking to himself, almost like he discovered the sound of his own voice and LOVED it! He's such a cutie, I LOVE my little man!

Zack's soccer experience...
As any of my regular readers know Zack is OBSESSED with Star Wars. I thought it would be nice to get him into a sport of some sort this spring to tame (or my secret hope) replace that obsession! We chose soccer because a friend in the neighborhood was offering soccer lessons so it was double the goodness, he could meet more kids in the neighborhood AND play soccer! It turned out we probably should have left him where he was just to give him a little confidence boost! He was at minimum a year younger than the kids on his team, they had all taken soccer before, and they were MUCH faster than him. It started with complete excited and thrill for him and ended with "Do I REALLY have to go to soccer mom?" As you all know this spring was crappy weather and it was freezing cold for most of the practices and left little extra time for us to go out and practice with him. He really wasn't THAT bad, he was pretty coordinated at dribbling the ball and could do an awesome power kick but none of that really helped him since he absolutely no sense of being competitive and as soon as someone would come to steal the ball from him he'd practically just walk away. Well, it did NOT diminish the Star Wars obsession in the least but I'll keep looking for something, there's gotta be some sport that'll do it for him right!?
Pics taken by the "team photographer" if I knew her name or website I'd sight her but that info was never given to me! :)Monday, July 25, 2011
Our spontaneous trip to St. George...
Last month we had our friends over for dinner and started talking about how much fun it would be to go a trip to St. George together. We started looking and dates and realized that our only option because of our busy schedules was to go the next weekend or wait a couple months. We decided to be spontaneous and just make it happen. I'm so glad we did, it was SO much fun!

We got hotel rooms with a door in between them so that we could put the kids to bed in one room at night and then stay up late playing games and talking the next night. It was super fun!
We spent the first day in Zions canyon taking the kids for a mini hike and enjoying the pretty canyon.
I LOVE that place, it'd be so fun to go there someday without the kids or when they are older and do some real hiking, I miss doing that!
We found a great little trail that was paved the whole way up to a waterfall so we could take the strollers for the little ones.
Zack LOVED exploring and finding all the caves and hiking tough terrain. It was so fun to just wander around with him and listen to the things his crazy imagination was coming up with!
Even the little ones had lots of fun! I think any excuse to be outside and run around makes them happy!

We only spent about half a day in the canyon but boy were the kids exhausted by the end! The were both completely OUT within seconds of starting to drive. You know we're having fun when we wear that out that much!
The next day was Sunday so we ventured out and found a place to go to church then headed up the canyon again to drive around and explore.
We found a really great spot that overlooked huge meadows and all the pretty rock formations. It was really pretty!
The meadows looked like a really great place to go play it but once you start walking through them you get so many sticky pokey things in your shoes, socks, and legs that we were finished with that pretty quick!
That evening we went to a cute little town and found a nice park for me to take their family pictures. It was fun to try out a new spot and they turned out so cute! Then we got dinner at a very delicious pizza restaurant, and went home for bedtime for the kids and more games for us!
On Monday we headed home but on the way decided to stop at Old Mill. I had driven past it hundreds of times and didn't even know it existed! It's a little church history spot that used to be a stopping place for people traveling (by wagon) down to Southern Utah. There are missionaries there that give tours and tell all about the home. It was really cool! I didn't get to enjoy much of the tour because we'd already be driving a couple hours and the kids were just itching to be free and run around a little bit. So I of course took the opportunity to snap a few pictures of them being cute! :)

I'm pregnant!
I am SUPER excited! I'm 8 weeks along which puts my due date on February 19th which is great because I thought I was only 7 weeks so that means one week less of the first trimester which I can't wait to finish up! :)
Obviously I've known I've been pregnant for awhile now but seeing this cute little peanut on the ultra sound (it was SO much more clear in person!) and watching the little heart beat made it really sink in for the first time! I'm so glad this baby is doing so well and the tests came back to show a completely healthy little baby! I'm SO excited and partially terrified, can I really handle THREE kids!? :)
