Ramblings of a 2 year old

I know most people don't really get as big of a kick out of Zackie stories as I do but for those of you that are close to Zack it usually gives a good giggle. I always forget the funny things he says so for a couple of days I decided to write them down. He has such cute mannerisms and watching him learn to try and express himself is SO funny! I just love being his mom, he's such a cutie!
One morning Zack and Trent were sitting at the table eating breakfast together quietly. Out of no where Zack turns to Trent and says "I'm having a good attitude daddy, I won't hit you." Hum...how sweet of him.

I was tucking Zack into bed the other night and our deal is that I always lay by him for one minute and then I leave. This was our conversation as I was leaving the other night.
Zack: "mommy, come back."
Me: "no Zack, it's been a minute, it's time for you to go to sleep."
Zack: "No mommy, come back!"
Me: "No Zackie, go to sleep."
Zack: "Mommy, just come back and give me a kiss!"
Who can resist that?

Every morning when Zack wakes up I ask him how he slept. He always gives me really random, silly answers so I love asking him. Here are a few of his answers....
Me: "Zack how did you sleep last night?"
Zack: "fast" (that one is the most common)

Me: "Zack how did you sleep last night?"
Zack: "long"

Me: "Zack how did you sleep last night?"
Zack: "tall"

Me: "Zack how did you sleep last night?"
Zack: "slow" (he said that one day after he took a really short nap. Maybe it isn't just a silly answer and fast and slow actually means something to him, who will ever know!?)

Me: "Zack how did you sleep last night?"
Zack: "hour"

His favorite drink in the whole world is Root Beer. The other day he got some when we went to a restaurant and as soon as he took a drink he excitedly said "Oh my gosh! This rootbeer is AMAZING!" He's 2, what 2 year old says that?

Trent: "Zack you're cute."
Zack: "ya, I am."
Hehe, maybe someday he'll learn some humility, just not TOO soon!

The other day I got out his pajamas which he always knows means it's almost bed time. I told him to come get them on and he said "I don't wear pajamas, they make me sick" Nice try kiddo.

Zack saw a Tractor driving on the road with all the cars. He got all upset and said "Stupid Tractor! He best be in the dirt!" You tell him Zack! (we are working on not saying stupid, I'm not always the best example for a 2 year old! :)

Instead of cucumber he calls it a "cute-cumber"

When he doesn't like something instead of being a normal kid and saying "I don't like it" he says "It's not for me." Who says that? It makes me laugh every time.

The other day we were outside and I told Zack I couldn't get something for him because it was in the mud and I didn't have my shoes on. He turned to Trent and said "Daddy, get mommy's shoes, she can't walk with her toes on."

This is a picture of Zack "sharing with Baby brother"
He does it quite often actually, he brings toys and set's them on my belly for baby brother to play with. What a sweet heart!

Trent was playing with Zack one night and Zack brought him his "lunch box" full of cars. Trent pretended to eat it in a such a way that Zack thought he really did eat it. We didn't want Zack to be trying to eat his toy cars so Trent showed Zack his "trick". Zack was is so discrete about it...we had to take a video!

This is another playtime with daddy where Zack was just making me crack up while he tried to be like daddy.

A favorite game of Zack's is to "freeze" at random moments. This is him playing it with my family at Sunday dinner. It is so fun to have the cousins around again!

Oh and I can't leave this picture out. We went on a day trip with some of our friends to see the Park City Parade of Homes. It was SO fun to have a day with just the adults hanging out together! Anyway, Zack got to spend the ENTIRE day with is grandpa and he hasn't stopped talking about it since! Here he is being Grandpa's little helper.
I took all these pics after I finished this post just so I had something to put with the quotes. Nothing more real life then a messy face, dirty shirt, and cute boy being shy of the pictures. I may be a little biased but I think he may be one of the cutest kids in the whole world!

What hasn't happened in the last couple weeks?

SO many exciting things have been happening in my family lately. I'll tell you, my life has been absolute chaos the last couple weeks! But now that it is finally going back to normal and I have time to blog again. :)
The Power's
The first exciting thing that happened recently is the my awesome older sister and their family moved back to Utah! They bought a house about 20 minutes from mine...I am SO excited to live nearby them and spend more time trying to convince my nephews and niece that I'm their favorite aunt, bwahahaha! Zack is super excited that he gets to play with his cousins again too!My parents and I the kids to the Zoo shortly after they moved in so that Trisha and Wes could have some time unpacking their house without having to watch their kids too. We had lots of fun.
I know none of them are looking at the camera in this picture but it is just so cute. :) It's so nice for the cousins to be all together again, now all we have to do is get Richie and Kira to move here someday and then we'll all be back together!
Bradley got his head "stuck" in the alligator's mouth right after this picture was taken. It was a moment of panic for him but I have to admit I was secretly giggling while he wiggled his way out.
Hanging out with Grandpa...I wonder if Zack is going to start getting jealous now that he has to share his favorite person's attention with his cousins? :) A warmup for the upcoming baby brother I guess!
Melissa MarieI can't believe I haven't posted about it yet but my little sis got her mission call and she is going to Tampa, Florida. She leaves October 21st. I am SO excited for her! She went through the temple for the first time last week and it was so special to be there with her and most of our family.
One of the temple workers turned to my mom while we were waiting for everything to get started and said to her "Isn't this the greatest payday a mother could ever have?" I'm sure how excited I was for her didn't compare to my mom's excitement but it was so special to be there with all my sisters and my husband...I just got an overwhelming feeling of how AWESOME my life is right now!
(I think Melissa had the 2 prego's stand on both sides of her so she'd look skinnier! Tricky, Tricky.)
Kira Michelle

My brother and his wife Kira are expecting their first child on October 16th. They are going to have a boy (yep, their little boy and ours will only be 2 months apart fun huh?) Kira was able to come visit one last time before she has the baby so of course we took the opportunity to throw her a baby shower. We had tons of our family come and I think it turned out really well. It was a really fun night!
Of course Zack's favorite part of the night was the cupcakes my aunt Sherry made!
Trent made me promise to get all the decorations up in our house before the shower just to give me a deadline. He knows me too well, without a deadline I would have spent the next year debating what I wanted to do and wouldn't have gotten anything done! So
everything was a little crazy trying to get the house put together before but I'm SO glad we made that goal because we got a TON of stuff done and now the things we have left are just small...it's nice to have our house feel more "homey" now that we have our pictures up and everything. I promise to post some pics of the house and the neighborhood soon...I know I said that like 2 months ago but I will I promise! :)
Zackie
With so many things I was trying to accomplish the last couple weeks I'm afraid to say Zack was getting slightly neglected. Finally one day I just decided to forget about my "to-do list" and spent the entire day just hanging out with Zack. It was really fun and relaxing to just enjoy some time with my boy. We literally spent the entire morning until lunchtime at the park, he LOVED it! Of course I just HAD to take a few pics. It's the moments where I'm just relaxing with Zack that I always have to whip out my camera, I'm always afraid I'll forget how cute and wonderful he is right now, how to capture all those feelings in a picture I don't know but I keep trying anyway!
Zack came up with this all by himself, we live near the new Oquirrh Mountain temple and we can see it from our windows. He LOVES it and talked about it all the time. This is a picture of him pretending he's a temple! :)
Here he's "feeding the birds," didn't you know they love dirt?
I just LOVE this kid!

My kiddos

Zack has been so fun lately! I just love that he's getting old enough to tell me all the things he's thinking about. He always says them in such a funny way too! Like today he said to me "I want my Trent" I wasn't sure I was understanding him correctly so I said "what do you mean?" and he said "I want my daddy!" So random, since when does he call his dad Trent?
He says such funny things every day. I wish I were better at keeping a list of the them but I always think I'll remember and don't write it down and then I forget! Uggg. Anyway, here a few pictures of him from the last couple weeks.
We were having a "cleaning" day and Zack decided to help by emptying all our shoes out of our closet and putting them in a laundry basket. He's so crazy! After he finished with our shoes he lined all his shoes up neatly on his bed...how practical, shoes on the bed, why didn't I think of that before? While I was on bedrest our friends Richard and Colette came to our house for a day and helped me take care of Zack. The boys were downstairs working on their computers and of course Zack wanted to be just like them so he built his own computer! Nice eh?We went to a fun splash pool in our neighborhood and Zack had a blast with his little friends! There were of few more kids there but he spent most of his time with this little cutie cause she wasn't a huge fan of the water either!
We also went in for the 20 week ultra sound last week. As always the pictures never turn out as cool as it is when you are watching it live but I still couldn't resist sharing them!
I can't believe how curled up and cramped he is in this picture! Yes, that's his feet right next to his head! No wonder babies come out so flexible!
Straight on face picture, I know, it's a little creepy but it's so clear it just amazes me!
Profile picture, these are always my favorite!
This was my favorite part of the ultra sound, they were trying to measure his hand and he just kept waving at us, it was really cute!

It's a BOY!!!

We are SO excited to announce we are having another boy! I was totally hoping to get a brother for Zackie to play with so we are really excited!I won't post the actual "It's a boy" ultra sound pic cause it's a little graphic. :) He might not appreciate it later in life!
We actually weren't supposed to find out what we were having until next Monday but we had a little scare and got an ultra sound to see what was going on. It turned out the placenta had a 2 centimeter tear in it. It actually heals itself and is not dangerous for the baby unless it is a large tear and 2 cm is actually very small. The only hang up is I have to be on bedrest for a week. It has been pretty difficult with Zack. He doesn't understand why his mom suddenly turned into a lazy bum!
But we've gotten LOTS of help from our awesome friends and family. Trent is exhausted from working full time and then coming home and taking care of Zack and I the rest of the night. He has been SO great, I can't even tell you how hard he has been working for us! Times like this remind me how much I totally don't deserve such a wonderful husband!
I am hoping to be get off bedrest after my dr apt tomorrow and finally be able to get back to life as normal. The hardest part has been not being able to take care of my family so I am VERY excited to get off bedrest. This has definitely given me a whole new respect for people that go on bedrest for a long time, I'm lucky it's only for a week!
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention it but the best part is he is kicking like crazy now! I started knowing for sure that I was feeling it the night I went into the hospital to see what was going on. It came at such a good time! Now whenever I start worrying about him he gives me a good kick and then I feel better!

Happy 4th of July!

We had such an AWESOME 4th of July! We started it out perfectly by going camping with Trent's parents. I haven't been myself lately...pulling out my camera with every fun thing we've done. Now I'm regretting it cause it was such a fun trip! :) On the morning of the 4th Zack woke up bright and early ready to go play around the campground. Trent was an awesome husband and let me sleep in while he took Zack to go play. Then we went to a big 4th of July breakfast that a ward hosts at the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon every year. It was really fun!
I just love the way this picture of my in-laws turned out! I think I'm going to have to frame it and put it up in my house somewhere!
Our little family
I know, I'm such a mean mom, he's bawling and instead of giving him a hug I take a picture! But it is SUCH a cute picture! :)
That evening we had a big 4th of July Party with my dad's side of the family. My aunts always go all out and plan all sorts of games for the kids and they were tons of fun! We started pretty late though and Zackie was getting tired. I played the "cake walk" (a lot like musical chairs) came with him and he was too tired to walk so I held him on my shoulders, I started wondering if he was going to fall asleep on my head!
Connor won the cake and Bradley was the runner up! It was so funny because the "loosers" got a cupcake as their prize for playing. Connor kept begging to get his number called because he just wanted a cupcake! Bradley understood the game a little better and knew he'd get a WHOLE cake if he was the last one called, but he wasn't bummed at all when Connor won. He quickly asked very nicely "will you share your cake with me Connor?" It was cute! I just love my nephews, it was so fun to have them here for the 4th!
Zackie LOVES his aunt Melissa! :)
The thing I was most excited for was to show Zackie the fireworks! We kept him up WAY later than we usually do because we started the fireworks so late. But he loved them enough to make it worth the next 2 days of a sleepy grumpy child! There was no way we could pull Zack's attention away from the fireworks for something as boring as a picture! :)

Whoa belly!

So the myth is true! You definitely "pop" much faster with your second child!
I went from this at 6 weeks pregnant:To this at 16 weeks pregnant:Yikes, that happened fast!

Weird Zackie

Zack and I were sitting at the table eating breakfast the other day and Zackie looked at me and said
"I'm weird sometimes!"

Haha, it's so true!
Just had to share that, he makes me laugh everyday with the funny things he says! :)
I have lots to blog about but not much time, I'll return to the blogging world soon though!
